Christian Mission Service

Is not an orphanage but a home

Christian Mission Service (CMS), a charitable organization, has been caring for orphan and destitute children for the past 59 years. It has 74 institutions for the care of children, young people and senior citizens, mostly located in rural areas.Presently for 4,600 and approximately 40,000 have passed through the gates of CMS. CMS and its Ministry is the realization of the ideals of Mr. Emil Richter, its German founder, and Mr. Ervin Klinge and other committed Christians.

Mr. Richter became deeply concerned about the helpless condition of the needy children of India and their spiritual and material needs, as well as the spiritual needs of people in general, following an address from an Indian Pastor who travelled to Germany in 1957. He believed that the Gospel of the love of Christ provides the real answer to the problems of the needy world. He felt that Christians should be ready to share the burden of the poor in the less developed countries.

In India 74 institutions in 33 centres in 6 states.Presently for 4,000 and approximately 38,000 have passed through the gates of CMS
