Child abuse: A hindrance to societal development

Neglect, mistreatment, physical violence, mental abuse against a child constitutes to child abuse. The abuser can be the parent or other acquaintance can abuse only because of parent’s neglect.

Good or bad, childhood learnings stick.

It has an immense impact and can change the course of their life, the decision they take, the people they choose to be with, the habits they develop, the way they react to their life. At least two of these would be deranging unless checked in time. Here are a few scenarios elicited for your understanding.

Stunted interaction: Due to the impacts of the child abuse and the walls that went up ten wouldn’t come down that easily. Their trust in others would be at the ground level and that stunts interaction with many people and we are a social being. This could be a daily battle for someone who is built a little weaker.

Limited opportunities: Child abuse restricts the exploration quota. Changes and new things are hard to anticipate and embrace. Without these, opportunities to climb the survival ladder are low. This limits chances to their best life and incidentally, the societal development is unquestionable.

Indecision:  The epitome of child abuse is the failure to make decision. The stress of decision making can cause severe depression. Childhood abandonment and neglect affects their worldly exploration and the children’s journey of self-realization would be non-existent.

These are few scenarios that enunciates the degrading development of the children because of abuse. According to statistics, 2 in 3 children are victims of child abuse. This impacts collectively on the society and the future of humanity.

Christian Mission Service has come through many such cases. We have given more than education, food, and shelter. We consider the child’s mental aspect and give them the guidance that will help them move through the difficulties they have faced.
